The Trump Administration is Breaking America's Promises to Veterans and Military Families
DOGE and the Trump Administration are making huge staffing cuts to the Veterans' Administration. All kinds of veterans' benefits will be affected--especially health care and mental health, which already have long wait times. Nurses and other professionals at the Veterans' Administration are joining veterans to protest the cuts and demand full staffing levels.
Staffing cuts ordered by DOGE and Trump are putting tens of thousands of veterans out of work throughout the federal government. About 30% of civilian federal employees are veterans, spouses of veterans, or spouses of active military, so about 3 out of every 10 people laid off by DOGE and Trump may be veterans or military family members. Trump advisor Alina Habbas showed no sympathy for the veterans being laid off, saying "perhaps they're not fit to have a job at this moment, or they're not willing to come to work."
ICE has detained veterans and spouses of active military members. A veteran who deployed twice to Iraq was arrested in Arizona, the wife of a Coast Guard member was arrested on a base in Florida, and the wife of an Army officer was detained, strip-searched, and imprisoned in Hawaii and then deported to Australia.
The politicians in Washington should follow through on their promises to take care of veterans and military families
